Spello is a unique blend of medieval characteristics (tortuous alleys and antique stone houses) and numerous Roman vestiges ( from the encircling walls from the time of Augustus to the remains of the amphitheater and the Arch of Augustus). 
The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore holds the frescoes by Pinturicchio in the Cappella Baglioni.
