This “city of beautiful towers” is one of the highlights of a visit to Tuscany.  Fourteen towers survive of the original 70 that once stood in this tiny city.
  In addition, San Gimignano’s churches and museums contain charming medieval frescoes, and its streets offer a variety of art galleries, shops and restaurants.  In 1990 the historic center was designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
