The city is built on a series of dramatic cliff-like terraces on the slopes of Monte Ingino, with stunning views from its main square. The Eugubine tablets, dating from the 3rd century BC are housed in the Palazzo dei Consoli.
A cable car, located alongside the church of Sant’Agostino, goes to the summit of Monte Ingino and the Basilica of Sant’Ubaldo, which houses the great wooden candles that are used in the Race of the Candles Festival held in May.
