Famous for its painted Etruscan tombs and its Museo Nazionale Etrusco, Chiusi is rich in history, with medieval buildings superimposed over Roman, which are in turn standing on a labyrinth of subterranean Etruscan tunnels. 
The campanile of the Romanesque church is built over a large Roman cistern.  Guided tours of the tombs can be arranged at the museum.
